James F Street
Chief Executive Officer |
|
Dear prospective students and parents,
Each summer as I reflect on the year just completed and anticipate the year to come, I look forward to an outstanding school year, one that will continue to focus on the success of each and every student. As a Cyber School, we recognize that our task is to prepare our students to achieve the high standards needed to meet the challenges of tomorrow. We believe student learning is our chief priority and each student is a valued individual with unique physical, social, emotional, and intellectual needs. As a staff, we often collaborate because it is clear that none of us can educate a student alone. We are part of a system that teaches, communicates, and reinforces the educational activities of our students. This collaboration supports both our students and our staff in the educational process. By harnessing the collective abilities of our staff we can establish a climate of learning, which benefits the whole school and establishes a culture of learning where all parts of our school benefit from the experience.
Often businesses place posters in stores and restaurants that state their beliefs about the customer. We believe the same comments can be applied to the SusQ-Cyber Charter School.
A student is the most important person in our school!
A student is not an interruption of our work; he or she is the purpose of it.
A student is not just a statistic, He or she is a flesh and blood human being with feelings and emotions like us.
A student is one who comes to us with needs and/or wants. It is our job to fill them.
A student is deserving of the most courteous and attentive treatment that we can provide.
The focus of the Cyber School is on providing service to students and the pursuit of excellence. We the staff of the SusQ-Cyber Charter School are pleased to have the opportunity to serve and work with all our students. The importance of our teaching and learning lies in the commitment we hold that the answers to the problems to be faced by our students in the future rests in their education today. We believe the attitude of our staff and the value of educational excellence we instill in our students will make a difference in their future.
Likewise, we believe there are expectations and obligations for both parents and students in a cyber school. These expectations have developed over time as demonstrated by successful cyber students. The following expectations apply to both students and parents in order for any student to be successful in the Cyber School:
Successful Students want an education, want to attend school, and want to learn.
Successful Students are responsible, motivated, self-disciplined, and willing to workindependently.
Successful Students live an organized life, enjoy reading and writing, and are willing to follow directions.
Successful Students are willing to spend 5 1/2 hours per day on schoolwork.
Successful Students maintain regular contact with their teachers and the school.
Successful Students' parents monitor their work at home, supervise their student's attendance, and communicate with the teachers.
Successful Students' parents are involved in their student's school program.
Successful Students are a result of the combined effort from the school and the home.
Successful Student's parents want their student to succeed and encourage them to strive for excellence and not just attend school.
On behalf of the staff of the SusQ-Cyber Charter School, I welcome you to examine our cyber school program as an educational option and to review our plan to educate your student.
Sincerely,
James F. Street
