  Cyber School History

In 1997, five local school districts met with members of the Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit to discuss how to more efficiently use technology to enhance the educational process, and that meeting set the process in motion for the formation of a cyber school. After additional planning and preparation, three of the original five school districts approved the charter that created the SusQ-Cyber Charter School in 1998.

In 2002, Act 88 required all charter schools to be chartered by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, and in 2003 the SusQ-Cyber Charter School was re-chartered as a public school district for grades 9-12 for an additional 5 years. In 2008, the SusQ-Cyber Charter school was successfully rechartered by the Pennsylvania Department of Education through the 2012-2013 school year.

Since 1998, the SCCS has continued to grow and develop as its role continues to change. SusQ-Cyber is proud of the fact that it was the first cyber charter school in the State and it will continue to explore new technologies and techniques in order to deliver the best education possible.
