Student Assistance Program
The Student Assistance Program (SAP) is a collaborative effort between the schools, local agencies and families to link students in need with the services necessary to assist them to be more successful in school. The SAP team does not diagnose, treat or refer for treatment, but we do refer for screening or assessment. There is a four step process which includes 1) Referral; 2) Team Planning; 3) Interventions and Recommendations; and 4) Support and Follow-Up. The SAP process is based upon state guidelines and all members have been trained by a certified trainer. Our SAP team consists of members from all areas of the school and includes: Karin Shipman, CEO John Barrett, Guidance Counselor Kristin Busch, Secretary for Guidance and Special Education Wendy Calarco, Curriculum Coordinator Andrew Hemsarth, Social Studies Teacher Paula Onisick, Special Education Teacher Liz Shotwell, Social Studies Teacher
Our SAP team meets two times weekly to review student referrals, recommendations for interventions and follow-up on previous referrals. Anyone can make a referral to the SAP team including school personnel, parents or other students. Feel free to contact any of our members for more information concerning the SAP process or background of the program. |
